LG M1994D
LG's 19 Inch Multifunction LCD Monitor
LG M1994D Review
LG describe this Multi function monitor with the following comment on their site
Hook up all your media devices to this multifunction monitor and enjoy hours of fun. With an Invisible SRS Surround Sound System, built-in Digital TV Tuner, and high-resolution display, this all-in-one monitor is perfect for PC applications, games, music, films, and TV.
We purchased this monitor back in 2009 as a replacement for an aging CRT (yes I said CRT) monitor and havent really looked back since.
The monitor offers viewers a 1680x1050 resolution which comes with a Digital fine Contrast ratio (DFC) of 20000:1 making images more life like. The monitor has a floating feel as the curved base of the screen fades away to almost clear plastic. The M1994D from LG is packed with features such as a digital freeview tuner, 2 HDMI inputs, 2 Scart inputs, an RGB VGA connection, a component connection and a DVI connection. The LG M1994D is also optimized for Windows Vista featuring LG's Flatron picture enhancing chip.
The LG M1994D also has 2 3W speakers offering invisible SRS Surround sound, they are classed as invisible as the speakers are hidden at the rear of the monitor. The sound quality is excellent, even more so when the sound is coming from a digital source. The monitor can be mounted on its desk stand or monuted on a wall with an optional wall mounting bracket.
There are a couple of minor setbacks, these being that it can be a dust magnet. The floating screen design means that there is a small crevice below the screen the bottom of the LG M1994D. This crevice attracts dust and its quite hard to completely remove. Also the warm up time from switiching on to the monitor springing into life can be a little slow. Not so much as to be annoying but equally not the fastest we have seen. The remote can sometimes take a few presses to get the message across that you want to change something but overall these are silly little issues.
One cool feature that we discovered was that you can turn off the power light. im not sure why thats there but it is and its quite unique in its own way.
LG M1994D Verdict
Overall this is a nice little 19 inch multi function monitor. The M1994D performs well at all of its tasks, be that computing, gaming or just watching TV. There are tons of inputs for all of your peripherals and whilst there are some small niggles with the monitors design these are far outweighed by its positives. For this reason we give the monitor an impressive 4 out of 5.
