Betron KBS08 Portable Bluetooth Speaker

The Betron KBS08 Portable Bluetooth Speaker is surprisingly cheap and really powerfull.

I was flicking through Amazon a few days ago and saw that some bluetooth speakers were on sale and decided to take a look because the output from my HTC One M8 is Ok but not that powerfull. I also wanted something that would be good to take on holiday and therefore it needed to be small, lightweight but packed a punch!

Bring on the KBS08 from Betron, a small (63mm) and lightweight (230g) Bluetooth 3.0 speaker with a 3 watt 45mm speaker inside. It has a li-po battery inside that is charged via USB and can run the speaker for up to 4 hours. Combine that with a 10 meter range and 3 modes to pick up sound and I knew that I had to get my hands on one even if I had never heard of Betron.

Thanks to Amazon Prime I got the beast the following day and set about unboxing it. 

The Betron KBS08 has 3 modes with which you can use to play sound from your devices. These are Bluetooth version 3, Aux mode which consists of a headphone port and SD/TF card slot and a built in radio, yes I said radio! The KBS08 comes bundled with a USB cable to charge the speaker but this is also a splitter cable which means one end had the full size male USB connector and the other has a mini USB connector and a 3.5mm audio jack. This enables you to plug anything that has a full size female USB port into the audio jack port on the speaker and play sound over the speaker. Alongside this is a lead which has 3.5mm audio jacks on both ends which means headphone sockets on your devices come in to play.

Because of the 3 different ways to connect to the Betron KBS08 I cannot think of anything that you would not be able to connect to it. Externaly there are 4 buttons to change the mode, turn volume up and down and change tracks and one to pause the action or answer your phone. The power button is a small slider and next to this is a tony hole which is actually a microphone because this doubles up as a hands free for your phone. Around the other side is the SD card slot and the USB and audio in ports. 

The KBS08 takes an initial 6 hour charge (mine had some charge in it) and then its ready for action. Pairing it via Bluetooth was easy and no passcode was required and the blue LED rings around the lower third and the top of the speaker stop flashing when things are paired. 

Playing sound and I was suprised that the LED's change colour in a repeating pattern, this is a nice effect and something which makes this look nice and professional. Sound quality is really good and I am very happy with the sound it outputs.
