Racksoy Microphone Stand for your Blue Yeti Review

You have probably started seeing videos pop up on most of my reviews recently, if you haven't then I would suggest checking out my channel on Youtube.

With the effort to produce good quality review videos comes the problem of good quality audio. Bad quality audio from the likes of a webcam can ruin videos in seconds.

Now this was solved fairly easily with the purchase of a Blue Yeti usb microphone last year from Maplin, but it did come at a price. I say that because the desktop stand that comes with the Yeti is good quality but it simply sits on the desk and has a very thin layer of foam or felt on the bottom. This does a small amount to minimize any vibrations from the surrounding environment but it didnt quite cut the mustard.

Enter the search for a microphone stand that would hold the Blue Yeti. A short Amazon search revealed a Boom Stand for the Yeti, or indeed most other microphones. This is a fully metalic boom microphone stand made by Racksoy.

The Racksoy Boom Microphone Stand is a fully metalic double action stand with spring support. The stand comes in a nice presentation box and inside is the boom arm, desk clamp and microphone holder. These are all wrapped in plastic to prevent damage during transit.

A quick bit of construction and I was ready to go. The clamp fits desks up to 4.5 cm thick and once the boom is fitted into this the arm extends to 32 inches in height from its 16 inch base setting. The Yeti doesnt fit the single metalic arm that the included microphone holder scews onto but luckily there is a a plastic adapter in the base of this holder that screws into the base of the Yeti.

Check out the video review here:

Once all set up the Yeti is held very well despite its size and weight. This is thanks to the double springs on each joint which prevents the arm from collapsing under the weight of the Blue Yeti. The first joint pivots well and there is a screw that can tighten or loosen the joint for easier movement. The single metal screw that the Yeti sits on also pivots over 180 degrees so achieving a comfortable recording position is fairly straightforward.

That being said the arm doesnt move (or isnt supposed to) from its fixed base position. By this I mean it doesnt rotate left or right and simply pulls out from its docked position and then collapses back in place. With a slight modification the arm can be swivled left and right.

Overall the arm is well made and a perfect fit for the Blue Yeti. It has improved the audio quality of my voice overs and commentary by 100% and for such a meagre price its clearly a win!. Check out the links below to see the Racksoy Boom Arm Microphone Stand on Amazon.
