Nicko Q-Pack Wooden Fire Station Review

Wooden toys and games really appear to be making a come back this Christmas with the supermarket giants like Tesco, Lidl, Aldi and Sainsburys stocking these on the run up to the festive season.

If you are looking for a small unassuming toy for a child releative or indeed you are looking for something small for your own child and perhaps space is an issue then take a look at the Q-Pack range by Nicko. These wooden build it yourself toys are made in China (what isnt these days) but are made for Nicko Toys (http://www.nickotoys.co.uk) who appear to be a UK based company. The box comes with German and English print on but the toy itself is all in English.

The Nicko Q-Pack Wooden Fire station comes totally unassembled and will require putting together when first opened. The job appears quite complex and I wonder of a 3 year old could do so as some of the parts are quite small. That being said I believe once its built it is small enough not to have to pack it away again.

Bearing in mind the Nicko Q-Pack Wooden Fire station appears to be a relatively new toy on the market from a new company the box is actually really good.

The tag line on the rear states "EASY TO BUILD + INTERCHANGABLE + IMAGINATIVE". The Nicko Q-Pack Wooden Fire station also uses a simple plastic connector system so you can build the fire station on its own or connect it to other Q-Pack Toys (Ambulance station, Police Station). Nicko Toys also do a boxset range so you can in effect have an entire street of these toys all lined up and connected.

The quality of the Nicko Q-Pack Wooden Fire station is really good. The wood has no sharp corners, it is painted well and the cars even have rubberised wheels. Check out the fire engine and helicopter in this shot. The Helicopter has plastic blades which do bend a little so I doubt they will break anytime soon.

Overall the Nicko Q-Pack Wooden Fire station is a great little toy for Christmas 2014 and we give it a massive 4.33 out of 5.
